For some, the most important metric to look at here is going to be price per square inch. If your main concern here is being frugal, then the Chunky Knit Blanket made by Bespotter is the one for you. And its not a bad choice by any means! It comes in 3 different sizes, and 5 different colors. This blanket will work in a lot of spaces. It’s handmade, made of the same Merino Wool as the other blankets, and is super soft and cozy. If you do jump for the Bespotter brand we do recommend their largest size at 4′ by 5′. They have two smaller sizes, but being so small theres not too much you can do with them.

Sizing for a Bed Throw
Of course one thing to consider is the size of the bed and the height off the ground. For our example were going to use a full size bed on a short stand. The full size bed is approx. 4′ wide and the top sits 2′ off the ground. If we want our blanket to cross the full length off the bed as well as fall off on both sides, it’s safe to assume we will need a blanket between 6 and 8 feet, or 72 to 96 inches long. For decoration purposes well likely want to fold it over at least once, and at folded length be between 2 and 3 feet, or 24 to 36 inches wide, putting the overall width at 4-6 feet.
Assuming the neat and folded look isn’t for you, we have a lot more wiggle room. You’ll notice by a lot of the photos we post, we like our spaces to be tidy and lived in, so this is the style we are most excited about. Again using the same bed example from above, we don’t need to worry so much about crossing the bed and having some overhang. A blanket width of 4 to 6 feet will do just fine. Since we likely won’t be folding our blanket either, we should be able to get away with one thats 3-4 feet wide.
Sizing for a Couch Throw
For a couch throw, we recommend something in between a messy and neat look. It all depends on the couch and the size of your space. For this example we are going to reference a couch that is 7 1/2 feet wide by 3 feet deep and just shy of 3 feet tall. Whether you choose to fold the blanket or not, and where you are going to position it is up to you. For a couch about this size we would want the blanket to cover about 3/4 of the length of the couch, so maybe a little less than 6 feet, and be at least as deep as the couch, so at least 3 feet deep.
Sizing for a Chair Throw
A pretty popular style for these Chunky Knit Blankets is to drape them over the back of a chair. This is a little harder to size, and a lot of it is up to your personal preferences. You do want to make sure the blanket is long enough to drape over the back of the chair maybe a foot to a foot and a half, span the whole length of the front of the chair back and again, depending upon preference, land with some slack in the seat of the chair. As far as blanket width, we recommend on and a half times the width of the chair. If you’re planning a messy throw then you can definitely get away with a little smaller. You certainly do not want to cover the chair entirely.
These chunky knit blankets come in almost any size and shape. The majority of them are handmade, so getting one in a very specific size is generally not out of the question. Check them out and see what blanket best fits your needs.
